What could be more relaxing than sitting on the beach, painting the waves come and go?

Sometimes the reality is that it's windy, rainy, and challenging to paint on the coast. So I like to practice in the comfort of my studio so I have a game plan!

This episode is all about capturing the movement of water, the texture of sand, and helping you grow your understanding of landscapes in general.

This class focuses on the following topics:

  • "Rule of Thirds" Composition theory
  • Limited palette mixing
  • Layering gouache
  • Creating strong texture using dry brush technique

  • Seawhite of Brighton Watercolor Sketchbook
  • Masterson Sta-Wet Acrylic Paper
  • Plastic palette tray
  • 1" flat wash brush
  • 1/2" flat brush
  • Various small flat brushes

Colors:

  • Zinc white
  • Cadmium free lemon yellow
  • Permanent alizarin crimson
  • Prussian Blue
  • Jet Black

About This Series

Gouache Landscapes is a series of classes that offers real time instruction for how to paint a variety of landscapes with gouache. Each class is 60 minutes or less so you can fit it into your busy schedule.
